The reports continue to come in. This one is about Applejack, the element of Zen TRUTH.

I was trying SO hard to come up with a different word than "zen", but couldn't. :iconartsyfartsy1998: suggested "Truth" and it's PERFECT! It still means understanding of the universe (universal truths) but sounds SO much better. Thank you!

I'm updating all my works to reflect this.

Well done on conveniently evading the fact that Applejack has been dishonest more than literally any other character in the show. If you had just labeled the element 'Integrity' I would have lost all antipathy for the character.

Part of my headcanon is that when the elements were extracted, each pony lost part of that element and have become LESS honest, generous, etc. (closer to normal ponies now).

I am wondering: was AJ's element originally dubbed "Zen" by your view? I just recall that word in particular sticking out in my head almost a year ago when I first read this article.

Somehow I couldn't think of another word for the concept I was trying to convey. I wish I had thought of "Truth" before, but zen to me meant balance, harmony, and the natural order of things which is how I see the element of "honesty"

I think Zen worked better, but this is only one pony's preference. But in any case, this is a well done set, and one of the only fan works that I have remembered for a year. I frequently refer people your character synopsis because they are so insightful.

I particularly like the one who has been doing these reports. So BA.

I just re-read these the other day and I'm amazed how well they still fit. For example, many new Pinkie Pie episodes later, everything I wrote last year still works. Hell, they've even been VALIDATED. Like party weaponry. And pre-positioned balls.

Indeed. What you did back then was perfectly define the characters' essence. I would say you have a talent for doing that, and wouldn't mind reading some of your other works because of it.

I freakin' love these. The explanation of Pinkie's genius and power, Fluttershy's adorableness, Rarity's faults (might've cried inside on that one), AJ's (whom is SO underrated) morality and truth, Twi's twilightness, and RD's loyalty and... yeah. I like all of them. :iconfluttershysqueeplz:
