Landslide is a pitiable pony. His desire to be a strong parent is strong. His love for Iron Strike is genuine. He's been hard because he thought it made IS better, but IS finally got his message through.
He really WAS stronger than Landslide believed... in more ways than one. But it's not the sting in his hoof that bothers him... it's knowing that only a slim thread of obligation remains between them.
