Don't Be Cruel

Almost all of this is a direct screenshot grab (with some modifications) of the show. Much love to Faust/Hasbro who own these.

That being said, I'm pretty sure they won't mess this up again. I mean, I hope they won't. But either way, this has been bugging me for a while and since I finished the last comic, I thought I'd take a break and slap this together.

I'm really not as upset about this as I might have led you to believe, but basically, my point is that they could have made the same episode with the same lesson without turning the whole town psuedo evil. It was completely out of character and frankly kind of disrespectful to the rest of the work they've done up to this point IMHO.

Usually when there's some sudden change in the way things are, there's an explanation (like when Applejack was harvesting alone and Twilight actually asked where the family from episode one had gone (just like I did at that exact moment)).

So to break it down:

1) I like their world where there's conflict and meanness, but they're the far, far exception. Just enough to make it interesting and teach a lesson, but mostly not there making it feel safe and wonderful.

2) They spent the whole series so far explaining to us that the average pony was a good person (even the Flim Flam brothers who never cheated). Suddenly, everyone is a greedy cheater where the only thing that matters is yourself. I don't accept changes to the brand without a good reason and the didn't give one in this episode.
